RF testing checks whether electric fields or plane waves can penetrate a shielded enclosure, and even the smallest gap can undermine shielding effectiveness.

With decades of experience in shielding effectiveness testing, leak detection, and repair, Global EMC offers RF testing from 400 MHz to 40 GHz. We test to EN 50147-1, MIL-STD-299, and other standards (bespoke tests can be done upon request).

At lower frequencies, magnetic shielding depends on continuous electrical contact around the enclosure rather than on sealing apertures. Over time, dust, dirt or corrosion at the seams can break that contact and degrade performance, so regular testing and maintenance keep the enclosure performing close to its original specification.

Acoustic noise is made up of pressure waves, so it poses different challenges to a shielded enclosure than EM waves. Global EMC’s acoustic testing service measures how much acoustic energy is attenuated as it enters or exits the enclosure, showing how well your space absorbs sound. Using an omnidirectional dodecahedron speaker, we test across all audio frequencies and provide a detailed report on absorption performance.
